Natural and Easy Way to Deodorize Shoes

I found a pair of Sandals at the beginning of the Summer that I absolutely fell in love with.  They had the memory foam bottom and were the most comfortable sandals ever.  The problem with these are after getting them wet (being stuck in the rain and walking in the wet grass) the memory foam part began to smell.  I’m too cheap to buy a new pair and I’m afraid to put them thru the washing machine because I don’t think they will ever be the same again. 🙁  I ended up reading somewhere you can freeze them with baking soda to remove the smell so I decided to try it.  To my amazement, it actually worked so I wanted to share it with all you!!

Natural Way to Deodorize Shoes

Shoe Deodorizer

1. Sprinkle some baking soda onto shoe.  Use enough to cover the whole shoe with a thin layer.

2. Place in a plastic ziploc bag and put in the freezer overnight.

3. Remove the shoes and allow them to warm up to room temperature again

4. Pour/wipe out the baking soda from inside the shoe and wear as normal!

  1. My “wellies” got way too much use this winter–I’m going to try this on them because smelly rubber boots are NOT enjoyable!
