One of my families favorite foods to eat are Tacos! We eat them probably once a week! One of my favorite things about tacos are the ability to make them as healthy as you want by picking whatever toppings you want. We make our tacos with Ground Turkey instead of Ground Beef to cut out a lot of the fat and grease and turkey also doesn’t cause problems with someone with Leaky Gut Syndrome. Another way that we have made our tacos healthier is by adding things like Kale and Spinach instead of eating lettuce that does not contain as many nutrients.
The last step for me to make our tacos healthier was to create my own taco seasoning that does not contain all the added artificial ingredients that the pre-made packets do from the grocery store. They also contain sugar and extra carbohydrates that your body does NOT need!
We all love the flavoring of this taco seasoning and we use it every time we make tacos. It makes enough for several dinners so you will need to find a jar or container to hold the extra seasoning in until next time. I chose to put ours in an old salsa jar that I had laying around. You just need two tablespoons of seasoning and 1/2 cup of water added to your meat to season.
DIY Taco Seasoning
- 1/4 cup Onion Powder
- 1/2 cup Chili Powder
- 2 tablespoons Garlic Powder
- 2 tablespoons Paprika
- 2 tablespoons Cumin
- 2 tablespoons Salt
- tablespoon Pepper
|In a jar with a lid add in the measured quantities of each seasoning.|
|Make sure lid is on tight and shake until all the seasonings are blended well|
|When ready to use take 2 tablespoons of seasoning and 1/2 cup of water. and add to your meat|
|Store in a cool dry place until ready to use again!|
