DIY Lemon Carpet Deodorizer

I really do not like carpet in my house.  The main reason…  I don’t feel like I can ever get it clean!  I have a dog that lives in the house and sheds like crazy all year long and I am constantly vacuuming trying to keep it from being on the floor.  It really bothers me that so much dirt and “stuff” can end up in the carpet and I know that the vacuum is not able to pick it all back out!! But… for right now my living room is carpeted until I have the budget to replace it so I just have to make do with what I have!

One way that I have found to help keep the carpet cleaner and fresher is to use my All natural Lemon Carpet Deodorizer once a week.  It helps to make the carpet smell nice and clean and Lemon essential oil is a natural disinfectant so it helps kill any germs and bacteria that may be lurking in the carpet!

DIY Lemon Carpet Deodorizer

How to make the Carpet Deodorizer:

Ingredients:

1 Cup Baking Soda

10 Drops Lemon Essential Oil– I use Plant Therapy

Directions:

  1. I put about 1/2 cup of Baking Soda into container and then add 5 drops of Lemon Oil and stir.
  2. Then add in the other 1/2 cup of Baking Soda followed by the last 5 drops of Lemon Oil and stir again.
  3. Sprinkle the mix on your carpets and let sit for about 30-45 minutes
  4. Vacuum your carpet like usual and it will pick up the baking soda residue but leave your carpets smelling great!
